THE Bright boys were the shining lights as Tenbury Town romped to a dazzling victory at Tupsley in Division One of the Herefordshire League.

Declan bagged a first senior hat-trick and brother Al scored twice in an 8-1 win, with Alex Lombardi (with a great volley), Dean Morris and substitute Mark Boucker also on target.

But despite the scoreline, boss Bob Sumner admitted he wasn’t totally happy. He said: “Being 3-0 up so early allowed me to see different players in different positions and gave some of the less regular players some game time, but the performance level will need to be better against the top teams in the division.”

Liam Watton (2), Keiron Powys, Alan Hopcutt and Connor Bufton were on target as Orleton Colts Reserves were 5-0 winners over Ewyas Harold Reserves but Woofferton surrendered their 100 per cent start with a surprise 2-1 defeat at home to the previously winless Fownhope Reserves. Marion Jusko scored their late consolation.

Orleton Colts bowed out of the HFA Charity Bowl in a 2-1 defeat to Pegasus Reserves at Old School Lane. Chris Breakwell scored their goal from a narrow angle but they didn’t start playing until the second half.

Clee Hill United swept to a 5-1 win at Bishop’s Castle Town in Division One of the Mercian League, goals from James Clifford (2), Adam Warren, Steve Preece and Craig Breakwell doing the business, but Brown Clee lost 2-0 at AFC Wellington and Church Stretton, who are struggling to field a settled side, were beaten 4-1 at Broseley in the Premier Division, Will Twyford netting.

Newcastle were pushed all the way by Brecon Northcote in the Mid Wales League South, but a Craig Morris goal proved all-important. He volleyed the only goal of the game after 20 minutes and then played a key role in defence alongside Simon Oakley to keep Brecon out in the second half.
