ORLETON Colts banked back-to-back wins in the Herefordshire League when they overcame Premier Division visitors Hinton 3-2.

Colts raced into a commanding 3-0 interval lead with goals from skipper Shane Jennings, who capitalised on a through ball from Dan Crowther, Martyn Jones with a curling shot and Will Caswell, who netted a rare header from a corner.

But they had to defend stoutly in the second half as Hinton pulled two goals back. Mike Shillcock was outstanding at centre-back and keeper Kelvin Thomas pulled off a fine save towards the end to deny Hinton a leveller.

Leaders Woofferton maintained their 100 per cent start in Division One with a 4-2 win at ten-man Fownhope Reserves. All six goals came in a frenetic second half, with Bryn Martin and Marian Jusko (with a perfect lob) both levelling home goals before Simon Bradley, who had earlier hit the post with a penalty, and Darren Bradley, with a deft chip, won it for Woofferton.

Orleton Colts Reserves were beaten 6-2 at Holme Lacy in the HFA Junior Cup - Connor Bufton and Ben Apperley scoring their goals - but Church Stretton ended their losing start in the Premier Division of the Mercian League with a 5-2 win at Madeley Sports.

Two goals from Will Twyford and one from Sean Gough had them 3-0 up at the break, and they added further goals from Gough and a Madeley defender.

In the Mid Wales League South, Newcastle slipped to a first defeat of the season when they were beaten 3-2 at Llandrindod Wells Reserves.

They were without a raft of regulars, including strikers Craig Morris and Carl Price, skipper Jimmy Thomas, keepers Gary Davies and Ben Harvey and new signing Alan Tovey. But they still travelled with 16 players and a valiant effort saw them beaten by a harsh 87th-minute penalty.

Scott Oxford levelled for Newcastle with his third goal of the season and Simon Oakley gave them the lead but injuries then saw Newcastle lose their shape and the home side turned the tables.

*MIKE Shillcock (2) and Nathan Hardisty scored the goals as Rosebuck drew 3-3 with Rosey Athletic in the Northern Division of the Herefordshire Sunday League.
