ALEX Summers and Scott Moran claimed a win and a second place apiece in the latest round of the British Hill Climb Championship to dominate Shelsey Walsh’s 110th anniversary meeting last Sunday.

Championship leader Summers clocked 23.05 seconds to record the fastest time of the day and win the opening run-off by half a second from Moran, and at the same time record the Gould GR61X’s 150th victory in the competition.

It is the most successful single car in British Hill Climb history.

Moran, the former five-times champion, then took the second run-off by five hundredths of a second on 23.14, with Summers in second place to extend his advantage at the head of the leaderboard.

The scratch standings now see the Tenbury driver on 192 points, 38 ahead of Trevor Willis and 40 in front of Wallace Menzies. Moran, who has not competed in every round, is fourth on 151.

Jos Goodyear made a popular appearance at Shelsley following his crash at Bouley Bay in Jersey a month ago.

Although wheelchair-bound he was cheerful and hopeful of a full recovery from the injuries sustained in the accident.

The next round of the championship is at Gurston Down in Wiltshire on August 29 and 30.
