THE inaugural Professional’s Day at Cleobury Mortimer Golf Club, a competition devised by the golf centre staff as a thank you to the members for their support, saw Ross Moorecroft, Steve Scrace, Dave Siddons and Dan Giles romp home in first place.

Titleist and Oldfields Cider sponsored the event with free drinks and golf balls included in the entry, and the Texas AM format saw some fantastic scores posted, with Moorecroft, Scrace, Siddons and Giles proving triumphant with a combined score of 108 points.

Professional Sam Pain said: “I started each group off and could see the winning team were very confident.

"They had a great mix on handicaps with Dave and Steve very dangerous off theirs. It is great to see Dan playing in competitions straight after joining the club and Ross is always consistent off his handicap.”

Meanwhile, the Rainbow Foundation Charity golf day was a major success and saw over 130 players from all over the West Midlands take part.

CMGC club captain Jon Gaskell and his wife Ange, plus their team of helpers, put on a great event from start to finish.

Over £8,000 was raised for the charity, which was a huge effort. Mark Watson took home the trophy with a fantastic score of 38 points.

Elsewhere, father and son Luke and Graham Brittain claimed a one-two finish in Cleobury Mortimer’s latest stableford event.

Dad Graham shot an impressive 40 points but he was outdone by son Luke who took the honours with 45.

Louie Edwards continued his rehabilitation from a dislocated shoulder to finish third with 38 points.

“Graham and Luke have really embraced membership at CMGC, playing in the competitions on a regular basis," said Pain.

"On current form they are the ones to watch in the next Cleobury major – President's Day."
