TENBURY century-makers were like London buses at the weekend - with one following another, and another, and another.

No fewer than four of the club’s batsmen posted three-figure scores in a memorable feast of run scoring, with three of them celebrating hundreds on the same day.

Leading the way was 2nd XI skipper Ben Thompson, who followed his maiden ton of earlier in the season with a brilliant unbeaten 131 (including 18 fours) against Enville 2nd at Penlu on Saturday. He guided Tenbury 2nd to a formidable 353-4 off 45 overs and Worcestershire County League visitors Enville 2nd reached a plucky 232-5 in reply.

Thompson, who shared in a magnificent opening stand of 201 in 28 overs with Ian Taylor, who was closing in on a century himself when he was run out by a direct hit for 94, said: “I am told it is the first time in the club’s history that three players have scored centuries on the same day and it was great to be part of it.

“I played for the first team for ten years and used to bat low down the order so it is nice to be able to build a few innings from the top.

"The pitch was flat and the outfield quick, and apart from one very difficult one early on, I didn’t offer any other chances.”

Former Herefordshire player Karl Pearson had kicked things off by cracking 109 in last Wednesday night’s South Shropshire Twenty20 League victory over Clee Hill.

Then on Saturday, 1st XI openers Aaron Morris and Andy Adams joined in the fun as Tenbury swamped Division Five hosts Enville by a massive 240 runs.

Morris (109) and Adams (105) helped Tenbury launch towards a massive 362-5 off their 50 overs, Kier Sellars also blasting 74 not out and Tom Rawlings 37 as the Enville bowling wilted in the strength-sapping conditions.

Enville were then whipped out for 122, with Robbie Farrar doing most of the damage with an impressive 6-26.

Pearson’s midweek century had helped Tenbury to reach 187-7 off 20 overs, the number three batsman hitting 15 fours. Clee Hill were then kept down to 142-7 in reply, opener Richard Mapp top-scoring with 58 before being run out by Pearson.

Cleobury Mortimer’s Craig Shorter hit 78 and Michael Green 50 in the Division Three defeat by Avoncroft, their middle-order efforts providing some respectability as Cleobury were bowled out for 193 in reply to 246-8.

James Manley had taken 5-25 off 10 overs.

And Cleobury 2nd were bowled out for 100 to sink to defeat against Old Hill 4th, who had earlier posted 223-4.
