LUDLOW boxer Craig Morris was on cloud nine after an eye-catching second professional win at Walsall Town Hall on Saturday night.

Morris stopped Viktor Drizlionoks in the third round of a four-round contest - the only stoppage on the seven-fight card.

It was a clear statement of intent from the 23-year-old who has made a encouraging start to his professional career with two wins from two contests.

Morris had floored his opponent in the opening round with a left upper cut and the referee stepped in to prevent the Latvian taking any more punishment when Morris launched an attacking onslaught in the first 30 seconds of round three.

Morris said: “Getting the only stoppage on the night was a big confidence booster for me.

"Hopefully it gave me a bit of recognition and people will remember that.

“I am taking things one step at a time but I couldn’t have asked for a better start to my professional career.

"I have really enjoyed it so far.”

Morris has already been given an early September date for professional fight number three, and once again it is likely to be at Walsall Town Hall. Details of his next opponent have still to be confirmed.
