CLEOBURY Mortimer and Church Stretton are primed and ready for some morning glory as they chase big finishes to big seasons this weekend.

Cleobury, the Midlands 4 West (North) champions, take on Evesham in the final of the North Midlands Vase at Dudley RFC?on Sunday morning, kick-off 11.15am.

And Church Stretton, who lifted the Midlands 5 West (North) title in their first season of competitive rugby, tackle Redditch from Midlands 4 West (South) in the final of the North Midlands Vase Plate at nearby Dudley Kingswinford, also with an 11.15am start.

Cleobury have already beaten Midlands 4 West (South) runners-up Evesham once this season, 27-3 in the semi-final of the Junior Vase, but skipper Will Bache says he is expecting "a tougher game" on Sunday.

Meanwhile Church Stretton will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of their impressive Under-19 and Under-17 teams, who have both captured silverware for the Samurai’s rapidly expanding trophy cabinet in recent weeks.

Their Under-19s swamped Aston Old Edwardians 44-12 to lift the North Midlands Plate last Sunday, with the Under-17s having already beaten Bromsgrove 43-17 in their age-group final.

Martyn Longhurst, Church Stretton’s director of rugby, admits “things have gone much better than we could have anticipated” in what has been an unforgettable campaign for the fledgling club.
