CHURCH Stretton are facing a possible win-or-bust finish to the season in Sportsjam Mercian (Regional) League Premier Division.

A 3-1 defeat at Allscott last Saturday leaves Paul Smith’s side just above the relegation zone, but having played one more game than the bottom two.

They are one point above Prees and five better off than Madeley Sports.

Smith said: “We are reliant on other results but I feel if we win our final game against Wellington Amateurs Reserves on April 18, we will stay up.”

Matty Jones gave Church Stretton the lead from the penalty spot, but they contributed to their own downfall after the break when a short back-pass from Matthew Newton saw goalkeeper Joe Bartl dispossessed for Allscott to go in front.

Clee Hill made it six wins in a row in all competitions with a 2-1 triumph at bottom-of the-table Oakengates Rangers in Division One.

They failed to find their recent rhythm in the opening 45 minutes but upped things after the break for Steve Preece to give them the lead and Liam Whitbread to convert from the spot when Preece was brought down.

Oakengates pulled a goal back with 10 minutes left.

Brown Clee lost 3-0 at home to Wrockwardine Wood in the same division.
