FOUR-goal James Pratt fronted a 7-3 romp as Ludlow completed a promising first season in the Warwick Printing West Midlands Premier League with a convincing home win over Stafford.

After Pratt had opened the scoring, Stafford briefly dragged themselves level but Ludlow’s greater fitness and non-stop running saw them create a hatful of chances.

Pratt cashed in with three more, and Brendan Pratt, Joe Haywood and Andrew Richards joined him on the scoresheet.

Ludlow 2nds defeated Pershore 4-1 at Evesham to claim a season’s best tally of 27 points from 16 games.

Jake Watts, with a powerful shot from a short corner, Graeme Wilcox, with an incredible angled shot on the turn, Andy Davenport-Smith and Tyler Davis, making the most of a superb Tom Aston pass, were on target.

The thirds had a long trip up the M6 in driving rain to play North Staffs, and were well beaten.

They struggled to adapt to the 3G pitch and finished on the wrong end of a 6-2 scoreline.

The ball bounced and bobbled erratically and it caused Ludlow’s youngsters all manner of problems. Lyle Hughes finished off a flowing move to score Ludlow’s first goal that cancelled out the home side’s opener but they were no match for North Staffs in the second period and their second goal, off a North Staffs stick, was nothing more than a token consolation.
