TALENTED golfer Emily Price has been selected for the England Golf A team for the forthcoming Scottish Under-16 girls’ open stroke play championship at Strathmore.

Price, who is a member of Cleobury Mortimer Golf Club will take part in the 36-hole championship that includes an individual and team competition, played over both rounds

She will be joined in the A team by international Hollie Muse and Martha Lewis.

Dave Pain, Director of Golf at Cleobury Mortimer said : All our members would like to say a big well done to Emily.

"Everyone at Cleobury is very proud of her.”

It has been a great week for Emily who has also secured a playing deal to use the new Titleist Prov1 golf ball.

Price, from Ashford Carbonnel, has earned many county and regional honours, including winning the English Girls Open under-15 title.

She made her England Under-18 schools’ girls debut against Wales at Conway last August and also competed on the Lee Westwood Golf Tour.

Meanwhile, CMGC's Sam Pain claimed his first victory as a professional in the Shropshire and Herefordshire Professional Golfers’ Alliance, held at Oswestry Golf Club.

A one under par on the back nine was enough to see him finish top of the leaderboard with a 72, in a match played in challenging weather conditions.

“I am delighted to get my first win as a golf professional and look forward to my next event at Kington," said Pain.

Elsewhere, Dave Gordon continued his meteoric rise to win the club's latest roll-up event.

Gordon, nicknamed 'Wild Thing, won with 42 points, his third competition win since February.

Second place went to Stuart Humphries, with Lee Glasby gaining third.

"Dave is a very dangerous player off his handicap," said Dave Pain.

"It is great to see him performing well and he is all set for a great season'.
