CO-DRIVER Jon Scott comprehensively won the modern section of the Mid Wales Stages Rally.

The Ludlow Castle Motor Club member was sat alongside Jamie Anderson in a Mitshubishi.

The pair cemented their victory on the 16 mile Sweet Lamb/Hafren Stage, going some 30 seconds quicker than their nearest rivals.

The winning margin was 48 seconds when they crossed the finish line after 45 miles in the wet and slippery Welsh forests.

Also making the podium was Alex Allingham, who had a much better event that the non-finish he experienced on the Wyedean Rally.

Allingham reported no major dramas, other than trying to get used to a new sequential gearbox.

Consistent times put Allingham into third placed and first in his class.

Tim Cairns and Richard May finished 18th overall and third in class after making a rare appearance in their Peugeot 309, but Harvey Price and George Gifford retired affter a stuble axle sheared in their MkII Escort.

The historic section of the event was a counter in the MSA British Historic Rally Championship and a number of Ludlow members were hopeful of a good result and some much needed championship points.

Joe Price and Chris Brooks made a return to rallying after a year or so out and ran perfectly to finish third overall and second in class.

Just one place behind came current championship leaders Jason Pritchard and Phil Clarke.

Seeded second, the pair were hopeful of another good haul of points following their victory in the previous round.

But slippery conditions saw them slip back to fourth overall after three stages.

An experiment with a different type and compound of tyre worked wonders though, ensuring they maintain their lead in the standings.

Keaton Williams was back out again in John Perrott's Shropshire Building Supplies MkI Escort and finished 13th overall and third in class.
