TENBURY Town suffered their first defeat in 13 games, falling to a 3-1 loss in their HFA Burghill Cup semi-final match against Bromyard.
The game, originally scheduled as a home tie for Tenbury, was switched to their opponents’ ground in a bid to protect the Palmers Meadow pitch.
Bromyard took full advantage of their newly gained home-team status to despatch Bob Sumner’s men.
Despite an evenly fought encounter, Town somehow found themselves trailing by two goals at the break, thanks to a Jack Muirhead brace.
Alex Bright rekindled Tenbury’s hopes early in the second half, scoring his third goal in two games.
His strike gave Tenbury renewed hope of causing an upset against the Division 1 leaders, and they pushed forward in search of the leveller.
With ten minutes left on the clock, Muirhead broke Tenbury hearts, completing his hat-trick to secure Bromyard a place in the final.
Tenbury travel to Kington Town Reserves this weekend in the second round of the HFL HJ Handley Cup.
The winners of the game will face a quarter-final tie against Herefordshire Football League Division 1 side Woofferton.
