TENBURY coach Andy Black insists his side is still in good spirit despite being on the end of a record-breaking defeat.

Botton-of-the-table Tenbury entertain second-bottom Greyhound this weekend knowing that realistically they must record only their second win of the season.

Preparations for the tie were hampered last weekend when they lost 97-0 at league leaders Cleobury Mortimer - the home side's biggest win in the club's history.

"Our season starts on Saturday afternoon," said Black.

"We all believe we can recover. The team itself is still in good spirit."

Despite the scoreline against Cleobury, he said there were some good performances from his players, particularly from Will Gough and Will Morgan.

"We just need to make sure we do the basics eight. At times we were not doing that," added Black.

"But Cleobury are an excellent team who are well drilled. We were not given the time to settle."

Cleobury captain Will Bache, meanwhile, said his only disappointment was not clocking a century of points.

"It was the biggest score in the club's history so there was a bit of history made," he said.

"I didn't know what they would bring but we were at home and we just steamrollered them.

"I said to our players afterwards that the only thing was we could have been more clinical. But that was being very critical.

"The boys did very well."

The thrashing saw Cleobury weigh in with 15 tries as Paul Hulland and Alex Howman scored four each, Josh Phillips and John Hulland two, while John Britton, Tom Redfern and Dave Leach each crossed over once.

So far this season, Cleobury have scored 582 points in their 12 games, conceding just 46. Their nearest challengers, Cannock, are 13 points adrift of them.

This weekend, Cleobury look to maintain their 100 per cent run when they visit Yardley.

"They're a good side at home but we cannot not go there with confidence," said Bache, who said it was too soon to get excited about winning the league.
