BROTHERS Phil and Steve Lau helped their team to a yellow ball success at Cleobury Mortimer Golf Club.

The competition is the best two stableford scores per each hole, with the yellow ball counting as double points.

However, if the yellow ball is lost, you can re-buy it or it is lost for good.

Glen Tram was one such person who phoned the club on the second tee to re-buy after losing it on the first.

Ian and Phil Baker, Dan Berwick and Richard Kimberlain were the first group out and shot an admirable 109 points despite the baltic-like conditions.

But they were just pipped to top spot by the Lau brothers and Bob Lucas and John Westley.

The team thought they had lost it on the last with just three points scored, but it proved immaterial as their 120-point haul was enough to win the event.

"That was some of the toughest conditions we have ever played in here at Cleobury and I have been a member for over 20 years," said Lucas.

"The team played some great golf and it's an honour to win the first competition of 2015."
