CHRIS Patton says he would much rather points on the board than games in hand as Tenbury Town start their pursuit of trophies on all fronts.

Bob Sumner's team have only played four games in Hereford Times Herefordshire Football League Division Two this season due to them reaching two cup finals and a semi-final.

The Palmers Meadow side are once again in cup action this Saturday when they face Kington Town Reserves in the second round of the HJ Handley Cup.

"I would rather points on the board because we want to go up this year," said winger Patton.

"We didn't go up last year and ending up losing to Fownhope by a point.

"But we have already beaten them twice this season and we feel a bit let down that we're not in that league.

"We have only played four games in the league, whereas some teams have played 11 or 12.

"We're on nine points, so three wins would put us on 18 and right up there.

"We have only lost at Sinkums so we have got to try and take our 2014 form into 2015."

Town are in the finals of the Worcestershire Minor Cup and the HFA Junior Cup, while they are also in the last four of the HFA Burghill Cup.

Patton said that, while the team are delighted with their progress this season, they are not taking anything for granted against Kington Town Reserves.

"We haven't played them yet and last played them a year ago," said Patton.

"Even though they are in the same league as us, we have got to treat it in the same way as we did against Tenbury United and Woofferton.

"We wouldn't have played for three weeks or trained for two, so everyone would have had a break."

Patton has admitted the team have targeted the HFA Junior Cup as a trophy they would love to win after missing out to Orleton Colts in the final last season.

"We feel we have a chance in that," said Patton.

"Since Tenbury Town was formed, we haven't won something and have always been second.

"So would like to win something.

"Everyone is scoring goals, like Alex Bright, Mark Boucker and Tom Pitt when he comes on, so things are going well."

Meanwhile, Tenbury United resume their league campaign this Saturday at home to Leominster Town.

United have lost six of their opening eight games in the Premier Division, but will fancy their chances against Leominster, who prop up the table.

A home game against Hinton follows before United face Ewyas Harold in the semi-finals of the HFA Charity Bowl.
