MANAGER Dave Cooper was left deflated after his AFC Ludlow side failed to pick up a win against Wrens Nest.

The Showtime Stadium side failed to take a number of chances in the West Midlands League Division One game and had to be content for their third successive draw.

"We had enough chances to win the game, so so did they," said Cooper.

"Their keeper made two or three really top drawer saves, so in end it was probably a fair result, but the game was there for the taking."

Cooper had to play in goal due to the unavailability of regular stopper Ian Havard.

"They scored with their only real attack in the first half," said Cooper.

"It was a great through ball and their player put the ball across me.

"Dale Hodge then scored for us with 20 minutes to go after beating a couple of players before Jamie Hammonds had a shot that was blocked on the line.

"It looked like their stuck an arm out and handled it, but sometimes you get them, sometimes you don't."

AFC Ludlow are now nine points behind Bromyard Town in the race to win the division, but Cooper's team do have a game in hand.

They will be hoping to take maximum points this Saturday when they entertain Stone Old Alleynians before facing a difficult trip to fifth-place St Martins.

"Gavin Podmore is out injured so won't be playing Saturday, while Joel Leversedge is also also unavailable," said Cooper.

"We are still unbeaten since we played Bromyard on November 15, which is a positive, but I am disappointed that we didn't take three points against Wrens Nest because we had so many chances.

"It is a really strange league though because anyone can beat anyone on their day.

"I think whoever puts together the most consistent run will win it."
