BROTHERS Steve and Phil Lau came out on top in a better ball competition held at Cleobury Mortiemr Golf Club.

The duo won the event with 50 points, with Ian Gough and Yoshi Oyami finishing second on 48 points on count back.

Adam Warren and Craig Shorter were third.

Club spokesman Dave Pain said a large field took part in the competition.

"It had some fantastic scores and by the sounds of it everyone enjoyed the competition and of course the cakes after nine holes.

"I'm pretty no team has ever got 50 points in a better ball at Cleobury Mortimer Golf Club."

Ian Duncan also got nearest the pin at the fifth hole, called Deer Park, while Ian Dorrell was the closest at Badgers Sett.

A guess the drive competition was also held.

Maurice Clarke drove 70 yards, with Warren's guess of 100 yards being the closest, while Julie Currie drove 40 yards, with Duncan saying she would drive 99 yards.

And Chris Newman was just one yard out when he said John Gaskell would drive 160 yards.
