A LUDLOW hockey player returning from a visit to India helped his side to comfortable win at West Bromwich.

Vijay Chumber was unable to make the first half of Ludlow's 4-1 win in the West Midlands Premier League, meaning his side had to play the opening period with ten men.

However, with the score at 1-1, his half time arrival inspired his side to score three second half goals with Chumber himself scoring alongside James Pratt and Joe Haywood. Andrew Richards opened te scoring for Ludlow before West Bromwich equalised.

Ludlow 2nd were also successful, beating Redditch 3-0.

The return of fullback Graeme Wilcox was welcomed as he, captain Jack Phasey and centre-half Jake Watts, took firm control of the game and drove play forward.

Several good goalscoring opportunities went begging until Tom Aston weaved his way through to pick his spot before Ludlow doubled their lead from a short-corner strike.

The second half was much the same with Ludlow keeping calm possession for long periods.

Wilcox’s return was rewarded with a short-corner goal with Mike Wilson unfortunate to miss a chance minutes later.

Ludlow 3rd slipped to a 4-0 home defeat by Bridgnorth.
