CHURCH Stretton manager Paul Smith could not understand how his team lost to AFC Bridgnorth Reserves.

Smith's side lost 2-1 and face a huge game this Saturday when they face fellow strugglers Childs Ercall in Mercian League Premier Division.

"We absolutely dominated from start to finish and should have won," said Smith.

"I played in goal because we were short of goalkeepers and in the second half I hardly touched the ball, apart from picking it out of the net.

"We were also denied a penalty with 10 minutes to go following a foul in the box.

"It was very disappointing from our perspective and we were very unlucky that they got away with three points."

AFC Bridgnorth Reserves opened the scoring in the first half before Rich Groom headed home a corner on the hour mark.

Ten minutes later, the home side went in front via the penalty box after the referee deemed a Stretton player impeded on of theirs.

Stretton were then denied their own penalty shout and could not find the illusive equaliser.

Bishops Castle threw away a lead to lost 3-2 to Wrockwardine Wood Juniors in Division One.

Wrockwardine opened the scoring in the first half before Sam Naden and Alex Jones turned the game around in Castle's favour.

But back came the home side to win the game.

There was better news for Brown Clee, who beat AFC Wellington 3-2.
