STAR striker Dan Gower smashed in four goals as Woofferton steamrollered Hereford City to advance to the quarter-finals of the HJ Handley Cup.

Tom “Dickie” Everall also scored a brace, with Si Bradley and Marian Jusko adding to the scoreline.

Woofferton have now won their last four games and are in fine form going into this Saturday’s Hereford Times Herefordshire Football League Division One game at Ewyas Harold Reserves.

“We had five substitutes on the bench, who were all used, and it was a good confidence builder for the lads who don’t often get much of a game,” said Woofferton player/secretary Dave “Magnum” Thomas.

“Tom Everall was immense in midfield and he deservedly got the man-of-the-match award.”

Woofferton featured AFC Ludlow pair Marian Jusko and Keanu Cooper due to Ludlow’s game versus Wrens Nest being postponed.

“They are signed on at us so can play whenever,” said Thomas.

“It is going well at the moment and we are looking forward to the Ewyas Harold game.

“Since losing against Fownhope Reserves, we have bounced back and won every game.”

Played on a very wet pitch, Everall opened the scoring for Woofferton when his low drive skidded under Hereford City’s goalkeeper.

Gower then doubled the lead before Bradley made it 3-0 just before half-time when his shot went in off the underside of the crossbar.

Gower grabbed his second goal of the game via a fine volley, before Hereford City pulled a goal back.

But Woofferton raced away to score further goals from Gower (two), Everall and Jusko.

Woofferton will face the winners of Kington Town Reserves and Tenbury Town in the last eight of the HJ Handley Cup.

It was less joy for Brimfield as Duncan Morris’ men were thrashed by 9-1 by Bromyard in the HJ Handley Cup.

Josh Partridge grabbed Brimfield’s goal.

Morris’ men will be hoping for a much better performance this Saturday when they entertain Hinton Reserves in the league.
