GOLF ace Ollie Farr is in dreamland after securing a European Tour place for next season.

The 26-year-old, from Newnham Bridge, finished third at the Dubai Festival City Challenge Tour at Al Badia Golf Club to earn his card.

He will start the new season in just three weeks time when he competes in the Nedbank Golf Challenge in South Africa before taking part in the Alfred Dunhill Championship at Leopard Creek.

"It was awesome that I finally did it and it was nice that I got the job done," said Farr.

"Looking at how it worked out, if I had finished joint last I would have got my card because it depends who did what, but I knew if I finished in the top three, there was no way anyone was going to beat me.

"I gave myself three years on the Challenge, so get my card in my first season is fantastic."

Farr banked 22,000 Euros in Dubai (around £17,300) to ensure he finished 10th in the Challenge Tour European rankings.

His younger brother Jason, 21, flew to Dubai to support him and Farr said he has received a lot of goodwill messages.

"My parents are over the moon and are really excited about next year," said Farr, who lives in Hereford and his engaged to his partner Joanna.

"They are already planning what events to go to.

"My Facebook and Twitter pages have almost blown up and Joanna's phone has been going mad, the support and thank-you's have been overwhelming."

Farr finished six shots adrift of winner Benjamin Hebert to secure his best finish of the season since winning the Turkish Airlines Challenge in May.

That victory came on the back of his grandfather Malcolm dying.

"It was an horrendous situation, but it kick-started my career and gave me belief," said Farr.

"It is unfortunate that he is not here to celebrate with us, but I know he will be happy."
