CHURCH Stretton finally found their shooting boots as they came from behind to draw 2-2 against high-fliers FC Hodnet in Mercian League Premier Division.

Aaron Gough grabbed both of Stretton's goals to leave manager Paul Smith delighted

"I couldn't believe we scored," said Smith.

"In the first half they battered us and were one of the best teams we have played this season.

"We were 2-0 down at the break and we weren't really in the game, but we came out firing in the second half.

"It was definitely a lot brighter."

Gough scored his first goal after getting on the end of a free-kick from his brother Sean before levelling the game from the penalty spot.

Hodnet finished the game with 10 men after one of their players allegedly struck Rich Groom.

Adam Warren returned from honeymoon in fine style to bag a hat-trick for Clee Hill in their 5-2 win against Wrockwardine Wood Juniors in Division One.

Warren only returned to the UK from Italy late on Friday night, but was on fire for Wayne Whitbread's team the following day.

Craig Shorter and James Clifford grabbed the other goals.

"We played particularly well against a half-decent side," said Whitbread.

"We are home to Claverley this Saturday, which is the only league game taking place.

"They are a 'hit and miss' side so I will see who is available.

"James Clifford will be missing though because he will be going to Australia for six weeks travelling."

Bishops Castle goalkeeper Joe McKay produced a number of fine saves to ensure his team secured three valuable points against Claverley.

John Hudson, Mark Griffiths and Luke Mellor scored the goals in the 3-0 win.
