LUDLOW Rugby Club will be hoping Australian legend David Campese will inspire them when he visits the Linney next month.

Campese, who scored 64 tries for the Wallabies during 101 appearances, will be talking about his glittering career at the club from 7.30pm on Wednesday, November 5.

Ludlow are currently in poor form on the pitch and were walloped 71-19 at home against Kidderminster last Saturday.

Norman Stalker's boys are now third from bottom in Midlands Two West (North) and face another tricky test this weekend when they travel to Wolverhampton.

But Ludlow spokesman Phil Norton said there are still positives coming out of the defeats.

"We are getting some heavy defeats, but there is a little bit of optimism from every game which gives us a bit of confidence," said Norton.

"We started in a great vein on Saturday, but we tried to do the wrong things and they scored four quick tries.

"But in the middle of the game we outscored them and at one stage got it back to 32-19.

"But they then ran away with it."

The match was part of a chairman's day, which included Ludlow being presented with a Club Mark Accreditation Award from the RFU.

The away is handed to clubs who have attained nationally recognised standards in governance and promoting their sport, as well as having an active involvement in their community.

"This is a significant award for any club to achieve and we are very proud of the work that has been and continues to be undertaken by members," said club spokesman Iain Braggins.

A decent crowd therefore watched the game, but had little to celebrate, apart from small parts of the match.

Mark Williams grabbed two tries, with Liam O'Neill kicking over a couple of conversions.

The referee also awarded Ludlow a penalty try after Tom Evans was preventing from going over the line, but Kidderminster were always in control of the match.

However, Norton is hopeful that some key players will be back this Saturday, including captain Theo Hodnett.

"Theo and Dave Morgan have both had head injuries, while Will Norton has a hip injury," said Norton.

"Mike Jones was also unavailable last Saturday, but hopefully those four players will be fir this weekend.

"It will be a tough game against Wolverhampton, but with players coming back, including the captain, it should give us a bit of confidence."
