NICK Morris grabbed three tries as Midlands Five West (North) side Church Stretton Samurai easily beat Birmingham Exiles 45-17 in the second round of the North Midlands Vase Plate.

Morris also added eight points with the boot, with further scores coming from centre Joe Collins, prop Nick Evans, flanker Jack Titley and winger Alex Pheby.

Stretton had to come from behind after Birmingham scored an unconverted try after five minutes.

However they soon got back in the game through Morris after he went over the line after beating the last defender.

Danny Harley combined well with Pheby to set up Collins for a try, which was converted by Ash Passant.

Collins then released Morris to add another try to make it 17-5 at half-time.

Morris completed his hat-trick after the break, which he converted, before Birmingham reduced the arrears with a try.

But Stretton blew the opposition away with tries from Titley, Evans and Pheby, all of which were converted by Morris.

The Samurai will face Market Drayton in the next round on November 8.

Craig Breakwell's two tries helped Clee Hill secure a 10-10 draw against Burntwood in Midlands Two West (North).

"Steve Adams missed the conversions and a couple of penalties, but they were hard chances and the conditions were difficult," said Clee Hill captain Matt Bowen.

Alex Howman's three tries helped Cleobury Mortimer beat rivals Bishops Castle 34-3 in Midlands Four West (North).

Josh Phillips and Ed Lewis also went over the line, with Dave Leach adding three conversions.

Castle's solitary penalty was converted by captain Jack Holloway.

"It's two weeks running now that Alex has scored three tries, but Josh Phillips also put in some big hits against some big lads," said Cleobury captain Will Bache.

Cleobury have scored a mammoth 301 points in their six games and only conceded 15 going into this Saturday's trip to Bromyard.

"It is always a difficult place to go and I don''t think we have ever beaten them away," said Bache.

"We know we have to be on top of our game again."

Holloway said his team did not get going from the off.

"We were a bit flat and I think we showed them too much respect early in the game," he said.

Castle will hope to rectify their performance when host Greyhound this Saturday.

Tenbury captain Will Gough says this Saturday's home match against Telford Hornets is a must-win game after they were battered 50-8 against Rugeley, leaving them bottom of the table.

"The scoreboard didn't reflect the game, we just leaked a few tries at the wrong time," said Gough.

"It is our sponsors' day this Saturday so are hoping for a massive crowd.

"We know it's a must-win game."

Jack Brain and Dan Brace should both be available this weekend to bolster Gough's team.
