TWO goals from Thomas Pitt saw Tenbury Athletic beat rivals Teme Valley 4-2 in the HFA Sunday Cup.

Matt Clifford and Ben Spires grabbed Athletic's other goals, but they had to work hard to secure the win.

Teme Valley – formed from the old Tenbury Colts side – opened the scoring through Matt Jones before Clifford equalised.

Athletic then took the lead through Spires before James Powell thumped home a header to make it 2-2.

But Pitt then took centre-stage to ease Athletic into the next round where they will face Colwall Village.

Teme Valley's James Turrell said he is pleased with how the season is going and the team have a good blend.

"Athletic would have probably turned us over last season," said Turrell

"Notable performances have come from new signing James Powell at centre-back, my son Jordan Turrell, who is playing his first full season in adult midfield and our captain Jimmy Stone.

"Matt Jones and Matt Griffiths have also been banging the goals up front."

Roebuck are out of the cup after losing 3-2 to Burghill Rangers.

William Caswell and Nathan Hardistyn scored Roebuck's goals.

Norbury drew 2-2 with rivals Minsterley Rangers in Shrewsbury and District Sunday League Division One.

A Mike Griffiths penalty and a 20-yard strike from Martyn Ziemann put Norbury 2-0 up, but Minsterley stormed back to level the game.
