CHURCH Stretton boss Paul Smith believes his team needs more of a killer instinct in front of goal in order to climb the Mercian League Premier Division table.

Stretton drew 0-0 against Prees last Saturday and entertain Madeley Sports this weekend.

"We haven't got an out-and-out goalscorer and that is the difference," said Smith.

"It is about killing teams off, but I don't think we have had anyone score more than seven goals during the last two years.

"We defended very well against Prees, but they are probably the worst team we have played this season.

"Sean Gough hit the crossbar from a free-kick and we had a couple of goalmouth scrambles.

"We have probably dropped four points during the past two games, so I would hope we can beat Madeley this Saturday."

Alex Jones' Bishops Castle dropped to third from bottom in the Division One table following a 4-1 defeat against Donnington Community Sports & Social.

It was also a bad day for Brown Clee, who were thrashed 7-0 by Wrockwardine Wood.

As reported on ludlowadvertiser.co.uk, Clee Hill's home game against AFC Wellington was called off due to manager Wayne Whitbread failing to raise a side.

Newcastle also did not have a game in Mid Wales League (South) after Talgarth Reserves could not field a team.

However, Woofferton picked up a point in Herefordshire League Division One following a 2-2 draw against Bromyard FC.

Si Bradley and Dean Harding grabbed Woofferton's goals, but Bradley also missed a penalty.
