WOOFFERTON will be looking for revenge against Bromyard FC this Saturday after losing to the Herefordshire side in agonising fashion in the HFA Burghill Cup.

A contentious last-minute penalty saw Woofferton bow out at the first round stage.

Bromyard took the lead when a long through ball was met by a home striker, who knocked it past Woofferton keeper Kieron Roche.

However, the Blues quickly equalised when Dean Harding smashed the ball home after being set up by Simon Bradley.

Bryn Martin then put Steve Chadd's men ahead when he met a Dickie Everall free-kick, but back came Bromyard, who levelled with 15 minutes to go.

Extra-time was on the cards when left-back Dave 'Magnum' Thomas was deemed to have fouled a Bromyard striker in the box.

The penalty was converted to leave Woofferton heartbroken.

"Speaking to the ref after the game, he told me he saw it as a foul," said Thomas.

"It was a shame the tie was decided like that, but we have to pick ourselves up and beat them in our league fixture this weekend."

Brimfield bowed out of the HFA Junior Cup after losing 8-5 to Kington Town Reserves in a remarkable game.

A lack of players saw Brimfeld start the game with 10 men after Jake Collett could not start it due to work commitments.

Collett played during the second half, but Duncan Morris' men were again reduced to 10 men when Jamie Vickers went off injuured.

Brimfield's scorers were James Byatt (two), Shaun McNally and Chris Breakwell (two).
