WILL Sparrow may return to Ludlow Rugby Club later in his career after deciding to leave the Linneymen for Luctonians.

Sparrow said that the time was right for a new challenge, but added the club will always have a place in his heart.

"It was fantastic at Ludlow, but I felt it was the right time to leave and try and play at a better standard," said Sparrow.

"I left on good terms at Ludlow and I haven't ruled out returning there at the end of my career.

"I was there since I was 17, so had a good five seasons, four of which were in the first team.

"I didn't play much rugby until I was 17, so have a lot to thank Ludlow for."

Fellow back Joe Doyle has also made the short journey to Luctonians in National Two North and Sparrow said it is good to have him on board.

"It is always quite nice when you have got a good mate going with you," said Sparrow.

"We are really the only two new boys at Luctonians and the aim is to finish in the top five next."

Sparrow added that, even though he has never met new Ludlow coach Norman Stalker, he thinks his former team will hold their own in Midlands Two West (North).

"Norman has coached at a higher lever and I have heard the boys are enjoying playing under him," said Sparrow.

"Apparently he likes to play good rugby and has good man-management skills.

"They have lost some of the bigger players, but they are a young fit side and I think they'll hold their own."
