HOLDERS Woofferton have retained the Stephen Apperley Cup after a 2-0 success over Orleton Colts Reserves in the final.

A goal from Dan Gower and Keanu Cooper gave Woofferton an excellent win.

Man-of-the-match Bryn Martin lifted this year’s trophy after receiving it from family representative and Orleton Colts player Ben Apperley.

Previously, a goal from captain Gower took the Blues into the final after a 1-0 win over Brimfield in the first semi-final.

Orleton Colts Reserves had booked their spot in the final after overcoming Orleton Colts in a penalty shoot-out.

Brimfield finished in third spot after a 3-2 victory over Orleton Colts in a play-off match.

The day was a huge success with £340 raised and will be split between Midland Air Ambulance Charity and Orleton Recreational Committee.

Organiser Dave 'Magnum' Thomas thanked the four teams who attended, along with the referees - Hayden Kirkby and Brian Holyman.

He also thanked Kristian Morgan, Ade Arnold, Marg and Steve Pritchard for their support on the day.

Woofferton travel to Ledbury Town Reserves this Saturday for their opening Hereford Times Herefordshire League Division One fixture.

Steve Chadd’s Blues will be looking to make a solid start to the new campaign.
