HOLDERS Woofferton will be aiming to retain the annual Stephen Apperley Memorial Cup at Orleton this Sunday.

Woofferton will by vying for the trophy with rivals Brimfield, Orleton Colts and Orleton Colts Reserves.

The first game kicks off at 2pm. A bar and food will be available, along with a prize raffle with all proceeds will go to the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity.

Woofferton are looking forward to the new season in the Hereford Times Herefordshire League Division One.

Steve Chadd’s men have added 'Dan Hicks, Dean Harding and Tom 'Dickie' Everall to their ranks.

Woofferton defender and club secretary Dave 'Magnum' Thomas said: ''We're feeling very upbeat at the moment because we've got a new kit on its way, strengthened the squad with new signings and added to our back-room staff.”

''Dan Hicks, Dean Harding and Tom 'Dickie' Everall have joined us - they all top-quality players, who have proved in pre-season that they'll add skill and strength to the team''.

Club captain Dan Gower has been taking the training sessions.

''Dan scored more than 40 goals last season and brought in 'Dickie' Everall to the club, in an effort to bolster the strike-force.

“Hopefully Dickie will score a few for us in the coming season.

“Alan Hogg has stepped up to help us on match-days, which is great because he's been associated with the club for years and knows the lads well. A sponsor has come forward and the club are to receive a much needed new kit.''
