TWO Tenbury football teams will be competing in the North Division of the Herefordshire Sunday League.

Tenbury Colts have switched from the Herefordshire Saturday League and are now playing under the new club name of Teme Valley F.C.

Teme Valley will be joining Tenbury Colts and the Roebuck in a 13-team new-look Northern Division this season.

Teme Valley spokesman James Turrell said: “Due to the very progressive nature of Tenbury United last season, in incorporating many more young players, there is not currently a need for our club on a Saturday in Tenbury as the purpose in setting the team up originally was to give youngsters a chance to play.

“I want to give full credit to Nicky Stocker and Aaron Morris for addressing this with the town's premier team.

“However, a number of the lads who have come through the team in the past few years expressed an interest in Sunday football so we have set up on that premise.

“We have attracted a strong contingent from Ludlow and the surrounding area over the past few years that have significantly strengthened our numbers. Add into this the limited facilities at Palmers Meadow, a matter I know the council is trying to address, and it seemed sense for us to make the switch.”

Andy Roe, Dan Jara, Ben Jordan and Jordan Turrell picked up awards at the club’s presentation evening at the Bridge in Tenbury Wells.

Awards: Players’ player of the season: Andy Roe; Coaches player of the season: Dan Jara;

Colt of the year: Ben Jordan; Young player of the season: Jordan Turrell.
