KEEN fisherman Chester Gardener has made a great catch – to triumph in a senior contest for Cleobury Angling Club.
He bagged an impressive haul of 46lbs to take top spot in the event which was the club’s first senior match of the season.
Chester, 20, was followed by Dave Jones, who was second, after catching a bag of 29lbs.
Tony Bullock was also on good form and finished in a respectable third spot after catching a 25lb haul.
The fishing event involved 10 senior members and took place at Froggatts Pools near Ludlow.
Chester, who lives in Clee Hill, is from a sporting family – his dad, Shaun Gardener, who runs TNT Tyres in Ludlow, is a rally driver.
Shaun, from Ludlow Castle Motor Club, has twice won the prestigious BTRDA Gold Star Championship - the last time in 2012.
