Tenbury Ladies 6 Harborne Ladies 2nd 2
BRACES from Abi Davies and Rene Johnson led in-form Tenbury to an impressive victory over the previously unbeaten leaders in the Worcestershire Women’s League Division One.
Vicky Jones and Emma Reddock also netted for Tenbury, who shone in an outstanding first-half display as the team finished third in the league.
Tenbury’s victory was marred by an injury to Rachel Croxton-Broome, who was carried off after hurting a foot.
Tenbury took the lead from their first penalty corner, smashed in by Davies and she soon added her second goal.
Johnson grabbed her first of the match and she doubled her money when she dribbled past two defenders before hitting a reverse shot into the net.
Tenbury led 4-1 at the break and Jones broke through from open play and found the target with a reverse flick shot.
Tenbury were affected by Croxton-Broome’s injury, but they eventually settled and Reddock rounding off the scoring with an excellent strike.
Club spokesman Tina Bickley said: “This was an emphatic performance from Tenbury who finished second half of the season unbeaten to finish third in their league.”
