Bromyard 22 pts Cleobury Mortimer 5 pts
CLEOBURY Mortimer had Sam Sutton yellow-carded yesterday (Saturday) as they suffered their first defeat of the season in Midlands Four West (North).
An under-strength Cleobury tried hard in rain-swept conditions but Bromyard deserved a third victory of the campaign.
Bromyard could have won by a bigger margin – Chris Rowberry missed three penalties in the swirling conditions.
Cleobury had a strong wind in their favour in the opening half but trailed 7-5 at the interval.
Bromyard made a perfect start, Rowberry charging down an attempted Cleobury clearance and John Parker picking up the loose ball to touch down.
Rowberry added the conversion but the visitors hit back with a fine try in the left-hand corner from Ben Howman.
The hosts extended their lead after the interval through Rowberry’s penalty before Sutton was yellow carded.
Jamie Williams’ men increased their lead from a scrum, Scott Holloway being driven over and Rowberry converting to put Bromyard 17-5 ahead.
The hosts had the final word from a five-metre scrum when Toby Rivers cut through to complete the scoring.
