LUDLOW Hockey Club warmed up for this Saturday’s Ener-G West Midlands League Division Two title battle against Bromsgrove with a 5-0 friendly win over Hereford.

Josh Rowson marked his first-team team debut with a man-of-the-match display as Ludlow romped into a 4-0 half-time lead against Hereford.

Shaun Dajavs (2) Alan Edwards, Gavin Hughes and James Pratt netted for Ludlow, who are also eager to face fellow title-chasers Bromsgrove this weekend.

Talented goalkeeper Zoe Morgan made a string of excellent saves and Joe Haywood hit a first-half hat-trick in Ludlow 3rd’s 4-2 victory at Stafford in the West Midlands North Fathom.

Dajavs also scored for Ludlow 3rd, who finished with eight outfield players after George Borns suffered a knee injury.

Meanwhile, James Pratt was named player of the tournament after helping The Yellow Hornets to Ludlow Hockey Club’s annual Teme Leisure Sixes Shield.

The Yellow Hornets triumphed in a bruising mixed sixes indoor competition which involved six teams.

Dave Hughes, Darren Dixon and Henry Downes all shone in goal but there were injuries to Alex Edwards, Anthony Nobbs and Alice Oatham.

Players travelled from London, Guildford and Brighton to take part in the seasonal club gathering.
