Riders endure fierce weather conditions in season opener
THE opening night for Ludlow Cycle Club's Tuesday evening Time Trial League proved not to be one for the weak, as a ferocious cold wind plus sharp storms ushered a good turnout of 25 riders into the new season.
Home club riders filled the top three places with Steve Bent proving himself to be the strongest rider on the night posting a time of 23.01 for the 10-mile course, a very respectable ride considering the conditions. Following on were Peter Ding, second in 23.24, comfortably holding off Andy Mear, 23.39, in third.
Leading lady rider Robyn Deller had to endure a hailstorm right at the start of her race. She battled on gamely, however, to post a time of 35.08.
