Ludlow in select company with ClubsFirst award
LUDLOW Hockey Club were presented with the "England Hockey ClubsFirst" award when their junior section held their Youth Celebration and Presentation Evening at the Craven Arms Community Centre last week.
This award confirms the club have gained a seal of approval and demonstrated their ability to adhere to the minimum operating standards (MOS) in regard to providing a "safe, effective and child friendly club".
This award is a tribute to the high standards set and dedication shown by the club's coaches, team managers and supportive parents. Jo Duff from England Hockey made the presentation, only the third to be made in Shropshire, a remarkable achievement for a small club without an artificial turf pitch in the town.
The evening attracted 70 people, with all the junior members who had represented the club in competitive teams, being presented with certificates.
The three sides who won their respective competitions at the under-11 and under-13 age groups of the Shropshire mini-tournament, recently, were presented with shields and certificates to mark the achievement.
Individual trophies were presented to: best under-16 boy (Bryn Hughes Cup): Tom Aston; best u-16 girl (Ian Hughes Cup): Molly Weaver; most improved player (Ed Reed Trophy): Joe Collins; best u-15 boy: James Pratt; best u-15 girl: Catherine Mumford; Umpiring Cup: Donna Whitbread.
