Four goals keep up the pressure

Woofferton 4 Westfields Res 1.

WITHOUT ever reaching top gear in difficult conditions, Woofferton ran out comfortable winners, and keep the pressure on the leading pair in the Premier Division of the Hereford Times Herefordshire League.

Playing with the blustery wind at their backs in the first half, the home side led 2-0 after 30 minutes. Dan Gower fired them in front from the edge of the box after 20 minutes, and then Joe Parker netted from a similar distance 10 minutes later.

Westfields pulled a goal back just before the break, and with the wind in their faces the home side looked to be in for a difficult second period. This never materialised and the Woofferton defence looked comfortable.

Gary Mowen came off the bench and threaded the ball across goal for Gower to score his second goal.

Jak Lewis robbed the keeper well outside his area in the last minute, and fired the ball over the remaining defenders to complete the scoring.

Woofferton Reserves won 4-1 at Bartonsham in Division 2. Their goals were scored by Dean Barrel, Craig Barrel, Craig Breakwell and Christian Roberts.
