Relegation fears are eased away with win
Newtown 2 Ludlow 4.
A CONFIDENT Ludlow eased any lingering relegation worries with a merited win over fellow strugglers Newtown in West Midlands Division 1 of the Bodykraft League.
They started with a bang, Paul Chubb applying the finishing touch to a flowing move to give them the lead in the second minute. They created more chances and eventually Nick Brooks doubled their tally.
Newtown did then get a foothold in the game andAdam Asbury was prominent as Ludlow were forced to defend their lead up to the break.
After the break, Newtown scored from open play to reduce the deficit but Kevin Williams deflected the ball in from a short corner to restore their advantage.
Dave Good stretched the lead to 4-1, and with it surely two points. Ludlow were again vulnerable and spent the last spell defending. Fortunately skipper Stuart Richards was in top form, and Newtown were restricted to just one more goal.
