Two-goal Foster sparks revival as Tenbury knock Bilston off top of table

Tenbury United 3 Bilston 3.

AFTER going 2-0 down and being outplayed in the first quarter, Tenbury fought back resolutely to claim a draw at Palmer's Meadow.

The result knocks Bilston off the top of Division 2 of the Sport Italia West Midlands League.

Bilston were in total control for the first 20 minutes. They took the lead when they headed home from a free-kick curled in from the right-hand side. A moment of hesitation in the home defence allowed them to add a second with a free header.

It could have been worse as a Bilston player just failed to get his head to another cross with the goal at his mercy. At this point, a few choice words by the manager from the touch-line seemed to work wonders for the home side.

Tenbury livened themselves up and had pulled a goal back by half time. The Bilston keeper failed to hold a Grant Harris shot and Mike Foster was on hand to turn the loose ball over the line from close-range.

The home side kept the momentum going at the start of the second half and it came as no surprise when Foster equalised. At this point United looked the likely winners, but a slip by a defender gave Bilston the chance to retake the lead from a tight angle.

The visitors sat back on their lead and Tenbury battered away for the remainder of the game. Harris slotted in a cross from the right to square the match again. Aaron Morris missed the target from a one-on-one with the Bilston keeper so the points were shared.

This week Tenbury entertain third-from-bottom Penn Colts at Palmer's Meadow.
