United’s resistance ends with winning goal just two minutes from time
Bustleholme 2 Tenbury United 1.
TENBURY spent a lot of the time defending stoutly against a useful Bustleholme side, but all their hard work came to nothing as the big home centre-forward grabbed his second goal of the game in the closing minutes, to secure a West Midlands League Division 2 win.
The home side were in charge for most of the first half, when an extra man in midfield kept United pegged back for long periods.
But there was nothing wrong with the visitors' resolve. They worked hard and restricted the home forwards to long-range shots in the main.
They did have the odd bit of luck as well, Aaron Morris deflecting one effort just wide of the target and another ball was cleared off the line. Chances were very limited at the other end.
United changed their formation at the break, beefing up their midfield in an attempt to counteract the home side's dominance in this area. It worked to a degree as the visitors certainly looked far more dangerous in the second half.
With the hour-mark gone and still no score,Tenbury's hard work looked to be heading for a point. The Bustleholme centre forward headed home from a cross to break the deadlock with about 15 minutes left on the clock.
Tenbury grabbed an equaliser shortly afterwards. Morris played the ball over the home defence and Matthew Turner ran through to head the ball in with the home side appealing for handball.
The home team hit their winner with two minutes to go.
This weekend, Tenbury play Mahal away.
