Late strike steals win from Ludlow
Old Silhillians 6 Ludlow 6.
AFTER going three goals down inside the first ten minutes, Ludlow staged a fine recovery to lead 5-3, and looked to be on their way to a much-needed win in West Midlands Division 1 of the Bodycraft League.
The home team hit back when Ludlow played the closing stages with 10 men and, in the end, the sides shared the points in a 12-goal thriller.
Old Silhillians capitalised on a lethargic opening six-minute spell by Ludlow to open up a three-goal lead. The visitors did not panic and seized the initiative with some slick passing and movement.
They had turned the game around by half-time, going into the break with a 4-3 lead.
Tom Aston opened their account from a short corner, Paul Chubb netted the second after diving over the keeper to pick up the loose ball, and Nick Brooks put them in front after Andrew Richards had converted another short-corner.
Despite Old Sills upping the tempo at the start of the second half, Ludlow seemed to have the game under control when Chubb grabbed his second goal to open up a two-goal lead.
The home side pulled a goal back while skipper Stuart Richards was off the pitch receiving treatment to an injury.
In a hectic finish, first the home side levelled the score, then Aston broke free to put Ludlow back in front with an individual goal. Ludlow then had a man dismissed and the home side grabbed a late equaliser.
Richards was extremely proud of the way his side battled back after digging themselves into a big hole in the opening minutes.
