Ludlow hit five to win at Ledbury
Ledbury Town 4 Ludlow Town 5.
IN a game of changing fortunes, Ludlow scored four times in the third quarter of this West Midlands League Premier Division match, to edge out a Ledbury side who adapted better to the difficult wet conditions at New Street.
The visitors knocked the ball around during the early stages. Jack Keating followed up to fire in the rebound when the home keeper saved Ollie Kesterton's third minute shot, to put them ahead.
They created more chances but failed to extend their lead. The home side capitalised on an attempted long pass across field by Ludlow to score the equaliser.
Ledbury were playing the more direct football and this paid dividends. They won a free-kick and scored to take the lead.
It might have been worse for Ludlow but Rickie Lee-Marsden shone in goal, bringing off a number of good saves throughout the game.
The half-time team-talk certainly worked wonders for Ludlow. Marcus Sherrad tapped in at the far post within five minutes of the restart and then Liam Turner headed in from a corner to put them in front once again.
There was no respite for the home defence, as first Kesterton headed home after a quick free-kick was played over the top and then Marvin Joseph made the score 5-2 from a long ball by Dan Tolley.
With the points seemingly safe, Ludlow took their foot off the gas, allowing the home team to score twice in quick succession and set up a tense finish.
Lee-Marsden was in action again as Ledbury attempted to salvage a point.
