Town on top form with home win
LUDLOW produced one of their best performances of the season in the West Midlands League Premier League to see off third-placed Tividale at the SBS Stadium.
The whole team worked hard for one another, passed the ball well and Marcus Sherrad produced some deadly finishing when three very similar opportunities came his way. He netted the first two, but just missed out on his hat-trick when a defender deflected the ball into his own net, and the referee marked the score as an own-goal.
Town took the lead in the 15th minute, Dean Richards working the ball down the right flank and crossing the ball into the box for Sherrad to run in and net from the angle of the six-yard box. They doubled their tally on the half hour mark from a similar movement. Lee Roscoe crossed from the right, Ben Houlston flicked the ball on, and Sherrad applied the finishing touch from a similar position.
The home defence was rarely stretched in the first half as Tividale tried to attack down them middle, and they were good value for their two-goal lead.
The visitors forced their way back into the game on the hour, firing the ball home from 18-yards after some slack marking gifted them possession. The home side regrouped following the set-back and restored their two-goal lead when the ball came in from the right and Sherrad's shot was deflected past the stranded keeper.
Tividale threw caution to the wind in the closing stages, forcing Rickie-Lee Marsden to make a couple of decent saves to protect the lead.
