Town lack punch in front of goal
TOWN lacked a killer punch in front of goal and had to settle for a Sport Italia West Midlands League point when they entertained Goodrich.
The most disappointing aspect of the game was that the visitors finished with just nine men, after having two men dismissed, and Ludlow still failed to break the deadlock.
Ludlow made a bold start to the game, as they set off in search of the double, having won 3-1 at Goodrich on the opening day of the season. Liam Turner hit a post in the early stages, and there were other chances during the first half.
It certainly wasn't one way traffic though, keeper Rickie-Lee Marston making a number of good saves as Goodrich, who have invested in players since the sides last met, looked for revenge.
The second half was very similar, with Ben Houlston using his physical presence to create a number of chances, but failed at the final hurdle, when he faced the visitor's keeper.
There was plenty of pressure during the closing stages, but Goodrich held on to gain partial compensation for the earlier result.
Manager Chris Richards was left to reflect on a decent performance, but realising his side needs to tuck away their chances if they are looking to finish towards the top of the division.
His task hasn't been made any easier by the recent loss of his assistants, Matt Burton and John Rhodes, who have left Town to take over the reins at fellow West Midlands outfit, Ellesmere Rangers. They have also given notice that they are looking to recruit defender Craig Farr, who is having a good season.
