Town fall away to concede five goals
Wednesfield 5 Ludlow Town 0
AFTER opening each half quite confidently, Town disappointingly fell away against a slicker side home side, who went on to score late goals each time, and ended up winning the West Midlands League Premier Division match by a comfortable margin.
Town started well, with Andy Pugh getting into the six-yard box, and the home keeper stopping a Jack Keating shot, as they threatened to open the scoring during the first ten minutes.
Wednesfield settled down and their crisper passing allowed them to take the lead on the half hour mark. They inflicted a savage blow to Ludlow when they increased the lead minutes before the turnaround.
The visitors held a positive team talk and took the game to the home side at the start of the second half. Pugh's shot went down off the crossbar and stayed out ten minutes after the restart.
Their appeals for a penalty for handball midway through the half fell on deaf ears, and then to compound their misery Wednesfield went down the other end and a Ludlow clearance was controlled with a hand in the build-up to their third goal.
This knocked the stuffing out of the Town side and Wednesfield went on to add two more goals to give them a comprehensive win at the final whistle.
Manager Chris Richards, whilst conceding that the home team are a unit on the way up, he was disappointed at the Town performance. He is looking for a big improvement on Saturday when they entertain Goodrich, another side to have shown improvement recently.
