Fireman Ben sets the game alight
Ludlow Town 2 Bustleholme 2
FIREMAN Ben Houlston struck twice for Ludlow Town to set the home crowd alight but two late goals doused their joy.
Centre forward Houlston, a former county league player, gave Ludlow a storming start but they failed to close out the game.
Manager Chris Richards said: "We were disappointed with the result but Ben's performance was the highlight. He is a great example of someone who has stepped up and shown the right commitment."
He added: "Because of fire service duties he has not been available to us until now. But he is making up for lost time."
Richards and joint manager Matt Burton have signed two 19-year-olds who are former Shrewsbury Town youth players.
They are midfielder Jack Keating and striker Marcus Sharrard.
Richards said: "They are both Ludlow lads who have gone on to play at a different level. It is good to have them on board and creating extra local interest."
Burton said: "They are a couple of skilful prospects and we are pleased to have captured their signatures."
Making his return on Saturday was club captain and defender Sean Parker after being out with a groin injury.
Next up is an away trip to Pelsall Villa on Saturday when Ludlow will be seeking to avenge an earlier 4-1 defeat. Ludlow are ninth in the West Midlands Premier and Pelsall are five points behind them.
Houlston scored his goals just before and after half time.
His first strike came from an Aaron Morris left-footed cross. He headed home the second following a move down the right.
Burton said: "We are playing OK for 70 minutes but then letting things slip. The first was an own goal off the back of a defender's heel and the second bobbled in. It was hard to pick ourselves back up again."
Town striker Andy Pugh was brought off the bench and hit the bar, the post and a final effort was saved by the keeper at full stretch.
