Tenbury Colts enjoying first season in Herefordshire League

Tenbury Colts 1 Relentless 6.

FOUNDER James Turrell says Tenbury Colts’ youngsters are enjoying their maiden season in the Herefordshire Saturday League.

Turrell scored a cracking goal for his side at Palmer’s Meadow last Saturday but they are still looking for their opening Division Three triumph.

“The lads are enjoying their football and we’ve come up against some nice people,” said Turrell.

“We’ve lost all three games so far but we’ve not been too far away. We conceded three late goals on Saturday after our young players got tired in the closing stages.”

Turrell said Jack Moran, 16, had made the centre-midfield position his own and Adam Grosvenor, also 16, has made the step up from youth football.

Colts joined the Herefordshire League earlier this year after resigning from the Worcester and District Saturday League.

Turrell said Colts’ youth teams had been in top form this campaign, with the under-11s leading the way in the Mercian League.

The under-13s are fourth in the Herefordshire Junior League Division Two after bagging 27 goals in their last two outings.

Turrell added that the under-15s are second in Mercian League Division Two.
