Norbury Football Club seal 3-2 win over Monkmoor in Shrewsbury and District Sunday League
9:16am Wednesday 19th September 2012 in Sport By Ian Morgan
NORBURY secured a 3-2 home victory last weekend against Monkmoor in Divison One of the Shrewsbury and District Sunday League.
In a close first half, Norbury took the lead when Jack Wilson stole in to beat defender and goalkeeper to a Mark Griffiths cross and nod the ball into an empty net.
In the second half, Norbury started on top and shortly doubled their lead as Ben Edwards finished neatly into the corner after exchanging passes with John and Mark Hudson down the right flank.
When man-of-the-match John Hudson was tripped in the box, Mark Griffiths slotted home the penalty for 3-0 and the game seemed to be over.
However, a late fightback from Monkmoor saw them head two late goals to leave a nervy last few minutes, but Norbury managed to hold on to the victory.
This Sunday Norbury are without a fixture but return the following weekend to face Minsterley away in the cup.
