Dan Haubenschmid stars for Bishop's Castle despite the rain

HEAVY rain once again decimated the league programme across the region - but Dan Haubenschmid took the batting plaudits for Bishop’s Castle’s 2nd.

Opener Haubenschmid hit 117 not out in his side’s 164-4 but Condover 2nd sealed a three-wicket home win in the Shropshire County League 2nd XI Division Three.

Johny Hill snapped up 5-5 from 7.5 overs and then topscored with 26 in Corvedale 2nd’s seven-wicket success against Beacon 2nd, also in 2nd XI Division Three.

William Wood hit 49 as Ludlow 3rd sealed a sixwicket victory at Quayside in a low-scoring battle in Division Five.

Chasing Quayside’s 78-9, Ludlow knocked off the winning runs despite finishing the match on a mudbath after a torrential downpour at 6pm saturated the pitch.

Chris Mapp took 4-29 for Ludlow 4th and had Oswestry 4th reeling on 58-4 when the Division Six match was rained off.

James Manley bagged 5-48 and Thomas Griffiths, 4-31 in Cleobury’s low-scoring three-wicket home win over Lye in the Worcestershire County League Division Four.

In reply to Lye’s 109 all out, Ben Griffiths (43) and Manley (10no) steered Cleobury to the target.

Alex Howman (4-26) and David Robinson (3-21) helped Cleobury Mortimer 2nd dismiss Claverley 2nd for 134 but the visitors were then shot out for 87 in 2nd XI Division Five.
